The AI Security fresk: Two Hours to Understand the Challenges and Risks of AI

How does artificial intelligence (AI) fundamentally differ from other human inventions? How can we explain the extremely rapid progress of this technology? What current and future risks does it pose to individuals and society?

The AI Security fresk is a participatory workshop designed to help you explore these questions and develop a clear understanding of the security issues related to AI.

What is the AI Security Fresk?

Developed by the ‘Centre pour la Sécurité de l’Intelligence Artificielle’ (CeSIA), this workshop is inspired by the concept of the Climate fresk (“la Fresque du climat”) to offer a collaborative and educational learning experience.

In two hours, you will work in small groups to build a fresk illustrating the links between:

• AI capabilities;
• their concrete impacts in the real world;
• and the current and future risks for individuals, society, and the environment.

Led by a facilitator trained in AI security issues, the workshop encourages constructive exchanges and helps develop a nuanced vision of this complex problem.

At the heart of the workshop: the main risks of AI

The fresk workshop will guide you through the three main types of risks related to AI:

• Systemic impacts: effects on employment, the labor market, resource consumption, etc.
• Risks of accidents and malfunctions: problems with aligning the objectives of human designers with those of AI, unforeseen failures, etc.
• Malicious uses: bioterrorism, mass manipulation and surveillance, large-scale disinformation, etc.
